- Check walls, ceilings, flooring, trim, doors, windows, blinds and built-in storage.
- Look for stains, cracks, holes, loose fixtures, missing covers and signs of water damage.
- Test lights, outlets and fans where safe and practical.
Kitchen and appliances
- Check cabinets, counters, sink, taps, drains, disposal, stove, oven, fridge, dishwasher and microwave if supplied.
- Photograph existing appliance marks, missing parts or faults.
- Ask who is responsible for appliance repairs if unclear.
Bathrooms and water
- Run taps and showers, check hot water, toilet flushing, drainage, caulking and visible leaks.
- Look under sinks and around tubs, showers, toilets and water heaters where accessible.
- Report water issues quickly and keep records.
Records and sign-off
- Use a move-in condition form if provided.
- Attach photos and written notes before signing or returning the checklist.
- Keep copies of emails, forms and images.
- Check local rules for inspection timelines or condition documentation.
